Aaqib Javed, former Pakistan Bowler has been roped in as the interim white ball coach of the senior Men's cricket team of Pakistan till the end of the champions trophy. Javed is also a selector in the PCB and will be working in a dual role of both as a coach and as a selector after the end of the showpiece event.
In the last year, Javed is the fifth person to take up the role of a coach in Pakistan's white ball team. The PCB stated in its statement that it aims to finalize a white-ball coach permanently by the end of the Champions Trophy which is scheduled to begin on Feb 19th and run until March 9th.
Gary Kirsten, a former South African batter & Indian head coach resigned as the head coach of the Pakistan White-ball team even before he could make his debut in the ODI format as the coach of Pakistan team.

Jason Gillespie, former Aussie fast bowler filled in as the replacement for Gary Kirsten on an interim basis. Gillespie who's the coach of the Pakistani test side won an ODI series against Australia recently.
The Pakistan Cricket Team is set for a packed schedule in their build-up to the Champions trophy. Javed will be looking after the side's tour of Zimbabwe where they will 3 ODI's and as many T20Is & similar amount of white ball matches against South Africa.
Post this, Pakistan will be involved in a home triangular series involving New Zealand & South Africa.
The PCB has also refuted the claims of removing Jason Gillespie from his duties as the coach of the red-ball team. The former Aussie bowler will be at the helm for the upcoming 2-match test series against South Africa which is a part of the ongoing World test Championship cycle.
