India has taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series and defeated Afghanistan in the first-ever T20I white ball series. The miraculous knock of Shivam Dube was the reason India won both T20 Internationals matches. The all-rounder scored an undefeated 63 runs off of 32 balls in the 2nd T20 International, smashing bowlers to all parts of the ground.
After India’s victory, Afghanistan players were seen checking the bat of young gun Shivam Dube, and the photo went viral on the social sphere, here is the picture:
During the press conference held after the game, Dube disclosed that Indian captain Rohit Sharma was pleased with his hit. In addition, he discussed his position on the squad and how he developed his ability to perform well under duress.
The skipper is really happy with my performance, he told me well played. (On Jaiswal) We both are stroke players, we know our game. My role was to take on the spinners, but our plan was to both attack and finish the game early. There wasn’t any target in mind, but we should have finished the game earlier. There are many things that I have worked on, apart from skill it is about how mentally you prepare for the T20 game. How to handle pressure, and deciding which bowlers to take on. It isn’t important to hit every ball. I have been working on my bowling as well, happy that it worked out in the first game but not as much today. But that is how T20 cricket is
~Dube told reporters in the post-match press conference
Shivam Dube was observed chatting with the commentators following the India National Cricket Team's victory in the match. He attributed his success during the conversation to captain MS Dhoni and his Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He claimed that the support and trust he received came from the late great captain Dhoni and the CSK administration.
My success credit goes to MS Dhoni and CSK. Mahi bhai (Dhoni) gave me confidence that I could do it, CSK management told me they believed in me and always had faith that I could perform
~Shivam Dube said after the match
The captain of the India National Cricket Team, Rohit Sharma, was ecstatic by Dube's performance and lavished the all-rounder with compliments. Shivam Dube, according to Rohit, is a strong man who can easily take on spinners.
Dube is a big guy, very powerful, and can take on the spinners. That is his role and he has come out and played two crucial innings for us
~Rohit Sharma
Dube will be next seen in action when India locks horns with Afghanistan in a dead-rubber encounter on January 17 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
