Brisbane Heat dished out a fiery performance tonight, crushing the Melbourne Stars by a massive 103 runs at the Gabba. Opener Colin Munro was the star of the show, blasting a blistering 99 off just 61 balls, his knock laced with 5 towering sixes and 9 boundaries in the opening match of the BBL Season 13.
The Heat's batting unit put on a dominant display, setting a mammoth 214/3 in their 20 overs. Munro's opening partners Usman Khawaja (28) & Marnus Labuschange (30) chipped in with valuable runs. Max Bryant (15) provided crucial cameos down the order and finished the innings with Munro Which is required.
In response, the Stars were never really in the chase, crumbling under the pressure of the steep target. Their batsmen failed to cope with the Heat's potent bowling attack, with only Hilton Cartwright (33) and Glenn Maxwell (23) offering some resistance.
Mitchell Swepson was the pick of the bowlers for the Heat, claiming 3 wickets for 23 runs in his 3.1 overs. He was well-supported by Xavier Bartlett (2/8) and Michael Neser (2/30) as the Stars were bundled out for a mere 111 runs in 15.1 overs.
