Northwest Derby lightened up as United stole it late at Trafford, knocking Klopp’s Quadruple dreams. In the last minute of extra time at Old Trafford, Amad Diallo settled an intense FA Cup quarterfinal match between Liverpool and Manchester United, sending United to Wembley with the goal of his career.

Amad game-winning goal in the final seconds, followed by his dismissal for stripping off in celebration, gave a fitting conclusion to an exciting contest in which United not only produced some of their finest football of the year but twice had to chase the game.

Game Overview:

At the end of the first half, Liverpool showed their class by turning the tie around in the space of four minutes. First, Alexis Mac Allister leveled the score with a deflected strike, and then Mohamed Salah scored on the rebound after Darwin Nunez shot was saved. Scott McTominay put United ahead with a well-deserved goal from one yard out. With a late goal, Antony came off the bench to keep the Red Devils in the game and force extra time.

From that point on, United was once more in control, but in the 105th minute, they lost to another deflected goal, this one from Harvey Elliot. In the last minute of regular time, Marcus Rashford, who had missed a huge opportunity to win, got up to bring United back level. For the first time, it appeared as though the match might go to penalties, but Amad had the last word when he fired off the post following a layoff from the excellent Alejandro Garnacho.

Jurgen Klopp on the performance:

“United had a better start, we had not a good start,” he says. "We adapted well to what they did and played a top game. After 2-1 up, we had so many chances where we had to kill the game off. The rest is already history. Normal time, nearly there. Extra time, nearly there, and then we lose the game.

That’s all right, I cannot ask the boys for more. We’ve had a much more intense season, everybody knows that – just count the games. “Today was hard, because of United’s quality and [the way] they took a lot of risks. I respect that. Congratulations to United for going to the semi-final, and we

have a game less, or two games less, and we have to use that.”

Erik Ten Hag on the performance:

“Very good spirit, very good mentality,” he says. “The first 35 minutes for me were the best minutes of the season. But then gaps between the lines and you can’t allow this against Liverpool, one of the best teams in Europe. So we had to change things… We have a team for the future that is very good – Dallo, and Garnacho. All the others I like too, Bruno, Rashford. Despite all the injuries – yesterday Jonny Evans

dropped out in the last minute of training.”
