The T20 World Cup has begun and lavishly the associate nations are giving a tough fight to each other in the first round of group games.
The Men In Blue are set to kick off their campaign on June 5 against Ireland in New York before taking on their arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9. However former Cricketer Aakash Chopra feels the other way around. Chopra on his YouTube channel.
Chopra expressed his disappointment that the roles of the players haven't been assigned yet.
Chopra quipped, " Is team India underprepared for yet another T20 World Cup? Are we still finding our batting lineup? Who's going to be our finisher?
should we only get to know about all these things during our campaign? Chopra gave a stern warning to team India ahead of their opening game against Ireland on June 5.
"Yeah India does like a left-right combination, but it is almost certain that two right-handers will open the innings, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Pant is likely to bat at 3, and Surya at 4, depending on their dismissals the order will be decided whether to send Shivam Dube or Hardik Pandya, Then Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, But my issue is why are we getting to all this when the tournament has already begun? at least we should've got to know our openers."
Chopra didn't shy away from criticizing the members of the 2022 World Cup edition particularly Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who have made it to the squad despite being away from the format in the last year or so.
Chopra stated: "Since the 2022 T20 World Cup, our batting order has remained the same, same batting slots, the changes that were made no one had the information to, so what have we changed from that time to this?"
This is not ideal at all, This is also because the senior members of the team haven't played T20Is since the last World Cup.
"I Have a strong feeling that we are not prepared at all, we are still trying to address the issues, yes we do have Individual brilliance, what happened last time around was the harakiri for the opening slot, we tried so many players even Surya Kumar Yadav, eventually the team decided to open with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, with Virat Kohli at 3, which was of no use at all, That came back to bite us, It's an early but a stern warning that we are not prepared at all".
