Sameer Rizwi, a 20-year-old right-hand batter from Meerut, was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 8.4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction held in Dubai on December 19. Gujarat Titans also showed interest in Rizwi, but the bidding war between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals took his price beyond INR 7 crore. However, his commitment to UP in the Men's U-23 State A Trophy championship prevented him from attending the trials. As a young player, Rizvi showed promise in age-group cricket. In a one-day game against Rajasthan, he scored 91 off 65 deliveries and hit 84 in 50 balls in the tournament final against Uttarakhand, helping his team win the title.
