Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has spoken out on the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni's the Indian Premier League (IPL) future. Dhoni, the most successful IPL skipper with five trophies, will return to action after nearly a year when the league's new season begins on March 22. At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Dhoni's CSK will face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (CSK) in the opening match. Dhoni has been out of play since the IPL 2023 final when CSK defeated Gujarat Titans to win the trophy in Ahmedabad.
Dhoni's future at CSK has been a hot topic before each season begins, and the same is true for IPL 2024.
Dhoni underwent knee surgery following the IPL final last year. However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanath announced that India's legendary captain will lead the franchise in the forthcoming season.
However, Parthiv believes that only Dhoni can put a stop to rumors regarding his IPL future.
Coming off to play once every 10 months, every time we end up talking about these two months being his Dhoni'si) last of cricket...This is a question that only he can answer.

Dhoni has not played a competitive game since the IPL final, as he is only active as a cricketer in the lucrative league. Parthiv believes that Dhoni's absence will provide a significant difficulty in the forthcoming season.
Over the course of these sixteen IPL seasons, we have seen big names who have not played a lot of domestic or any other format of cricket, end up struggling in the tournament...We have seen it happen with players like Mathew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist.

The schedule for the first two weeks and 21 matches of the T20 extravaganza was announced on Thursday with the MS Dhoni-led CSK playing two matches at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Chennai's next home fixture would be a repeat of last year's final with a clash against Gujarat Titans on March 26.
