There have been no ICC Trophy winnings by India since 2013 while India always shows its dominant play and enters into the finals but fails to convert the opportunity into winning. This is the 3rd time within 1 year that India will clash against Australians in the finals.
After losing in the first instance in the finals of the World Test Championship, India got another opportunity to level the guilt but alas! they failed again and slipped the World Cup trophy to the Aussies. It was a heartbreak moment for the Indians and a very proud Captain Pat Cummins who was the captain in both the heartthrob matches.
Australia will clash with India in the final of the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2024 on February 11 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. Both teams have made it to the final after an intense fight in their respective semifinals.
While India recovered from 32-4 while chasing 245 runs, Australia managed to throw out Pakistan by just one wicket. This will be Australia's first ICC Under 19 World Cup final appearance.
Hugh Weibgen, Australia's captain, has been the team's rock throughout the competition. With a sharp 39* from 43, he gave a head start in the match, he helped end a dangerous chase against Namibia.
In the second game against Zimbabwe, Hugh Weibgen made a strong 68 from 69 balls and assisted Harry Dixon who made 89 runs from 108 balls. Against England, he gave a phenomenal opening of 120 runs in 126 balls, but he could not get going in the third game. In a knock that lasted more than three hours, he hit fifteen fours. The groundwork for an enormous Australian victory was set by this century.
In addition to his impressive bat skills, Weibgen has led by example as a captain on the pitch. He has shown astute leadership overall and in his bowling adjustments.
In the tournament so far, Musheer Khan has been an absolute bliss for India. In the U19 World Cup 2024, he is the second-highest run-scorer with 334 runs with an amazing strike rate of 103.72. In addition to his skill at bat, Khan has fulfilled his promise as a bowler, taking four wickets at an economy rate of 3.01.
Uday Saharan, the mesmerizing skipper of India, has also excelled at the bat. In addition to surpassing his fellow countryman Musheer to become the tournament's highest run scorer with a 124-ball 81, Saharan also secured India's ninth consecutive position to the final of U-19 World Cup.
Given that the left-arm spinner has taken at least three wickets in four of the five games played so far in the tournament, it has proven difficult to keep Saumy Pandey out of any match. 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup top run scorer
