Delhi Capitals have appointed Matthew Mott as their assistant coach ahead of IPL 2025. Mott has won both the Men's & Women's T20 World Cup as head coach.
He had an incredible record with the Australian Women's team from 2015 to 2022 - an era where the Australian Women's team won the ODI World Cup once (2022) & the T20 World Cup twice (2020 & 2023). Post that he joined England's Men's cricket team as their white ball coach.
A serial winner who's back for more 🥹🤞

Welcome to Dilli, Matthew Mott 💙❤️ pic.twitter.com/gKR8sAXMRg
Even though he won the T20 World Cup in 2022, England's shabby performance in their pursuit of defending the ODI World Cup title in India where England ended up at the 7th spot & then failed to defend their T20I title ensured that Mott quit his post at the halfway mark of his tenure. Mott then signed a 3-year deal with the Sydney Sixers as their new assistant coach.
Mott had also served as assistant coach of Kolkata Knight Riders during the first two seasons of IPL.
Delhi Capitals who are looking for their maiden title in the Indian Premier League(IPL) have made major changes in their coaching staff ahead of the mega auctions by replacing legendary head coach Ricky Ponting with Hemang Badani, while also replacing James Hopes with former Indian seamer Munaf Patel.
Delhi, also let go of their seasoned campaigner & former skipper Rishabh Pant. While the Delhi-based franchise hasn't announced its leader yet, but, its highly speculated that their 14cr recruit KL Rahul is expected to lead the team in the 18th edition of the IPL.
Delhi Capitals will open their IPL campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Visakhapatnam on March 24.
