- Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai opened in 1974 and originally had a capacity of 45,000, which has been reduced to 32,000 after renovations.
- The stadium hosted its first cricket Test match in 1974 during West Indies' tour of India, where Clive Lloyd scored an unbeaten 242.
- India won its first Test on this ground against New Zealand two seasons later.
