"A Lot Happened Between 500 And 501": Ravichandran Ashwin's Wife Pens Down Emotional Note for Husband

Despite difficulties he was on the ground -

Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the excellent bowlers in world cricket. He always keeps the batsman in dilemma on how to attempt his next ball and lets them guessing. The spinner has proven to be the most difficult for Steve Smith to face, despite his incredible performance in red-ball cricket.

After Anil Kumble, Ashwin is the second Indian bowler to reach 500 Test wickets. He recently attained the feat. Prithi, his wife, has praised her husband for the accomplishment.

With his mother being admitted to the hospital, Ashwin had to leave the Rajkot Test midway through because of personal matters. On Day 4, he made a comeback and contributed with a wicket as India won by 434 runs.

His partner took to Instagram to post a heartfelt note spinner:

We chased 500 to Hyderabad, but it didn’t happen. To Vizag, it didn’t happen. So I just thought of a ton of sweets and gave them to everyone at home at 499. Five hundred came and went quietly. A lot happened between 500 and 501, Longest 48 hours of our lives. But this is about the 500. And the 499 before that. What a phenomenal achievement. What an outstanding guy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed in a press release on Sunday that Ashwin will be available to rejoin his teammates in Rajkot on Sunday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the return of Ravichandran Ashwin to the squad after a brief absence due to a family emergency. Ashwin had to temporarily withdraw from the squad after Day 2 of the 3rd Test in Rajkot to attend to a family emergency

Both R Ashwin and the team management are pleased to confirm that he will be back in action on Day 4 and will continue to contribute towards the team's cause in the ongoing Test match

Captain Rohit Sharma also praised Ashwin for giving importance to his family and then returning for the sake of his team.

Family comes first, and there was no second thought in our minds when we came to know about his family issue.

He wanted to be with his family, and it was the right thing to do. We missed him, but look, he came back, and this shows his character. We were happy to have him back.

To enable Ashwin to get to Rajkot in time for India's second-inning bowling attack, the BCCI arranged for him to board a chartered aircraft. Despite the challenging circumstances, which led to mental exhaustion from continuous travel, Ashwin performed admirably when captain Rohit Sharma gave him the ball on Day 4.
