Veteran Indian leg spinner Amit Mishra has announced his retirement from all formats of the game, drawing curtains on a career that spanned two decades.
Mishra, 42, played his last international in 2017 but remained an active player in domestic cricket and the IPL, most recently turning out for Lucknow Super Giants in 2024.
He ends his career with 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India, scalping 156 international wickets. On his Test debut in 2008 in Mohali, Mishra marked his arrival with a five-wicket haul against Australia.
68 international appearances. 156 wickets for India. And the only bowler with 3 magical hat-tricks in the @IPL . 🎩✨

In IPL, Mishra was one of the most reliable spin bowlers across franchises. Mishra played 162 games in the IPL, picking up 174 wickets to be in the list of the all-time leading wicket-takers in IPL history. Mishra also holds a unique record as being the only bowler to pick up a hat-trick thrice: Delhi Daredevils (2008), Deccan Chargers (2011) & Sunrisers Hyderabad (2013).
"After playing cricket for 25 years today, I announce my retirement from all formats of the game. This game has given me everything; the game is my first love, my teacher & also my source of joy.
"This journey has been a memorable one with all the learnings, the good times & even the hard times. I'm very grateful to the BCCI & the Haryana Cricket Association (HCA), my coaches, support staff, my colleagues & most importantly my fans who kept backing me & gave me strength every time I stepped onto the field."
