Sunrisers Hyderabad's young batting prodigy Abhishek Sharma disclosed the reason behind his 'L' celebration, a gesture made using the thumb and index finger every time he scored big and ended the match on a winning note.

In a recent video posted by the official handle of the Indian Premier League(IPL) on X(formerly known as Twitter), Abhishek Sharma spilled the beans and revealed that this celebration was initiated by him and his fellow opening partner Travis Head.

Abhishek revealed this after playing a good game of Cricket against Punjab Kings at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad. where Abhishek Sharma scored a brilliant 66 off 28 balls helped by the seasoned campaigner Heinrich Klassen who scored a quickfire 48. Helping them to chase 215 easily with 5 deliveries to spare.

Speaking about this family's presence in the stadium Abhishek revealed

My whole family, except my father, is here. It is special to me if they can come here and see me, and celebrate with me in such moments.

With this knock Abhishek achieved a great record, he has hit 41 sixes this season, leapfrogging Virat Kohli's 38 sixes in 2016. He also outshined his fellow teammates Heinrich Klassen who has hit 33 sixes so far, While Travis Head has hit 31 sixes, Sharma also surpassed former SRH batter David Warner's tally of 31 sixes which he hit in 2016. Setting a new record for SRH batting.

West Indian Cricket legend Chris Gayle has the overall record for hitting the most sixes in a single season with 59 sixes for RCB in the 2012 edition.
