April 25, 2025, in Srinagar: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may be changing its position on matches against Pakistan in ICC competitions, according to a report that surfaced in the wake of the terrible terrorist assault in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians, including tourists.

India and Pakistan will never meet in an exclusive group scenario, according to a Cricbuzz report that claims the BCCI wrote to the ICC requesting such arrangements. If verified, this proposal would be a dramatic break from the two bitter rivals' long-standing custom of fierce matches throughout World Cup and other big event group stages.

India and Pakistan teams played cricket against each other only during ICC tournaments and across continental competitions during the past ten years. A bilateral series between these teams was staged last during the 2012-13 period.

The BCCI has declared its firm position on Pakistani cricket matchups during matches. The organization stands together with all affected individuals while strongly disagreeing with these events. We will perform according to whatever our government instructs just as they direct. The Indian government stance prevents the BCCI from organizing cricket matches with Pakistan due to political differences.

The BCCI declares that going forward, it would not play any bilateral matches against Pakistan. Because of our agreement with the ICC, we attend ICC events even if we don't often play Pakistan in bilateral series due to political reasons. In his capacity as vice president, Rajeev Shukla told Sports Tak that "ICC is also aware whatever is happening they will to it."
