Not only did Ashwin become the highest wicket-taker against England surpassing veteran B Chandrashekhar who took 95 wickets in 23 matches but also became the 2nd highest Indian Test wicket-taker, cementing his place in history. He surpassed the legendary Kapil Dev who earlier took 434 wickets.
Ashwin also became the second-highest wicket-taker (96 wickets) in 21 matches between the IND vs ENG matches, just behind James Anderson. Over 39 innings, he has a 29.0 bowling average. In addition, Ashwin has claimed six five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul against England. Ashwin is on his way to 500 wickets in Test cricket with 499 wickets. Hence, Ashwin is now the most successful Indian bowler against England in Tests.

India gave a monumental target of 445 runs to England on 1st day. Thanks to the sensational innings of skipper Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja whose knock helped India to overpower the Bazzballs. Rohit made 131 runs while Jadeja smashed 112 runs.
Other noteworthy contributions, Sarfaraz Khan did test debut with a fantastic score of 62 runs but luck didn't favoured him and he got run out due to his senior call to run & Dhruv Jurel also played a wonderful knock of 48 runs.
And here comes the star bowler of the Indian team - Ravichandran Ashwin, he was only 1 wicket behind reaching a milestone of 500 wickets which he barely missed in the 2nd test. But this time, it wasn't far for him - he removed the opener Zak Crawley on the score of 15 and became the 2nd fastest bowler, after Muralidharan, in the history of cricket to fetch 500 wickets.
