There were plenty of youngsters who had registered their names in the recently concluded IPL mega auctions. One of those batters was 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre who had registered his name in the auctions unfortunately, he found no takers.

Now, the young batter has announced himself in style while batting in the ongoing Vijay Trophy 2024-25 for Mumbai. The young batter went on to break a record that was held by Yashasvi Jaiswal for 5 years. Mhatre went all guns blazing and achieved this record in the game against Nagaland.

Batting first against Nagaland, Mhatre opened the innings with KKR star Angkrish Raghuvanshi. He then went on to smash the opposition bowlers all around the ground, as he slammed a massive score of 181 from 117 balls. At 17 years and 191 days, Ayush becomes the youngest player in history to score 150 in an innings in List A cricket.

Mhatre has thus broken the record of Yashasvi Jaiswal who slammed a 150+ score against Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy back in 2019 at 17 years and 291 days old.

Now, let's have a look at the list of players who previously held this record in List A Cricket

Youngest players in history to score 150 in List A Cricket:

17y 168d - Ayush Mhatre (Mumbai) 2024

17y 291d - Yashasvi Jaiswal (Mumbai) 2019

19y 63d - Robin Uthappa (Karnataka) 2003

19y 136d - Tom Prest (Hampshire) 2021

In today's modern cricket with batters adding multiple shots in their armory, these records are very likely to be broken in the future, paving the way for an era in cricket that will be dominated by the batters in all formats of the game.
