Azhar Mahmood, a former all-round player, has been appointed as Pakistan's head coach for the upcoming series against New Zealand. The men's team will play in Lahore and Rawalpindi in a five-match T20 International series.
Additionally, Mohammad Yousuf and Saeed Ajmal have been appointed as the batting and bowling coaches, respectively, and Wahab Riaz as senior team manager.
At one point, Shane Watson and other candidates were being considered as full-time head coaches for Pakistan but the deal didn't take place. Mahmood's current contract is only expected to last for the forthcoming tour. Mahmood has previously held coaching positions in the Pakistan Super League and as the national team's bowling coach until 2019.
With the resignation of both Micky Arthur, the Director of Cricket, and Grant Bradburn, Pakistan has been without a full-time coach.
