Bangladesh vs India Women will play an enthralling five-match Twenty20 International series that begins on April 28. Bangladesh, keen to demonstrate their abilities, intends to pull off an unexpected victory over the defending T20 World Cup winners, India.
India has toured Bangladesh using white balls three times, the second time in the last two years. They had participated in as many ODIs and three T20Is in 2023. They matched the ODI series 1-1, but won the T20I series 2-1.
Conversely, India will be using this series as a rather important warm-up for the Women's T20 World Cup. The Women in Blue are the best team in ladies' cricket at the moment and have a really good line-up of batsmen headed by Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur. The pace quartet of Goswami, Harman Preet Kaur, Meghana, and Sushma Verma, is similarly dependent on the bowling capabilities of the experienced Jhulan Goswami and the wily Deepti Sharma.
On the other hand, Bangladesh is not an opponent to be taken for granted. The Tigresses are gradually honing their T20 skill set, and will surely be boosted by the home-ground advantage.
Opening batting partners Shamima Sultana and Munmun Ali can play aggressive shots to disturb the Indian attack, while the leg-spin of Salma Khatun and the off-spin of Rumana Ahmed will be important in slowing down the run rate.
This contest promises to be neck-to-neck. Bangladesh will be extremely keen to give a good account of themselves against sides ranked highly. They will be using the series as a springboard for their own World Cup hope. Indeed, India’s main concern will be to carry on with the inertia and sharpen the game plans before the start of the World Cup.
