Last year, Brisbane Heat entered the finals against Perth Scorchers and lost to them in a closely contested match. Heat gave the target of 175 runs which Scorchers swiftly chased in 19.2 overs at a loss of only 5 wickets.
But today the scenes have changed and history didn't repeat itself this time. Heat completed their old task and became the defending champions of BBL 13.
Spencer Johnson was the Player of the Match as he fetched 4 wickets and led the team in the victory lane. On the other hand, Josh Brown-1 again proved the power of his bat by smashing 53 runs in just 38 balls which includes 5 fours and 3 sixes. He was the majority scorer for his team besides Renshaw who made crucial 40 runs in 22 balls.
The reason for the defeat of the Sixers is the instability in their top batting order as the batting section collapsed like a deck of cards and there was almost no one to take the responsibility and take the team out of the difficult conditions.
Overall, the Heat gave their one of the best performances of the season and their hard work fetched them the title. Although they were not able to succeed last time but today they are the champions of the Sydney pitch and their names will be etched in the memoirs of the greats.
