The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced that the Bangladesh Cricket Team will be travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play the 2-match T20I series against the UAE. The board announced the development on Saturday (May 10), but the board also stated that they have yet to decide on their tour of Pakistan, consisting of 5 T20Is that run from May 25 to June 3
Earlier, the Emirates Cricket Board had announced that the UAE & Bangladesh will be playing a 2-match T20I series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in May. The first of the 2 T20Is will be played on May 17th at 7 PM Local time, while the tour concludes on May 19th with the second & final match. The Bangladeshi team was scheduled to travel to Pakistan for a 5-match T20I series that was set to begin from May 25 at Faisalabad & end at Lahore on June 3
However, the BCB has now stated that they have deferred the decision considering the border tensions between Pakistan and India that saw both IPL and PSL getting postponed.
The BCB directors met at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday to discuss their next course of action.
"As part of our continued commitment to International Engagement & preparations, the Bangladesh Cricket team is set to travel to the UAE for the 2-match T20I series against the host nation next week," BCB said in a statement.
"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in regular touch with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to discuss the future course of action in the Bangladesh Tour of Pakistan."
"The BCB's top most priority is the safety of its players & support staff members, hence a final call will be made on this tour after consulting with the host board (Pakistan) to decide the next move, the arrangements will be made in the best possible way ensuring it aligns well with the interests of Bangladesh Cricket," it added.
