Cricket legend Brad Hogg forecasts a phenomenal IPL season for young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The rise of young Indian stars produced inordinate performances in the recent home Test series against England as Yashasvi Jaiswal was named best player of the series for his dashing show. Jaiswal scored a whopping 712 runs out of nine innings, to sum up as the first run scorer of the series.

Moreover, Jaiswal's inclusion, together with Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep, Devdutt Padikkal, and Rajat Patidar, was also given their Test debuts. Along with Patidar, it is worth mentioning that the other three have had their share of growth till now.

But they have real quality no doubt,” Hogg stated during a YouTube broadcast about India‘s youngsters.

It is too early to give judgment. For example, if Jaiswal does not have a good series here (Australia), it is still too early to make the verdict because it is his first-ever exposure to this level of cricket.” The first mistake is when you start judging a player based on the level of performance they don’t get the opportunity to acclimatise themselves. Have they adjusted? Did they get a handle on that already? Also, it sends the chaff from the wheat.

In this specific series, Sarfaraz Khan's resistance against fast bowling frightened me. I can tell he's been working on his game from some of the pull shots he was playing at the back end against some tremendous pace.

I'll be curious to watch how he does against some quick bowlers who will put him to the test with the short stuff in this IPL, Hogg added.

"I think he is just around the corner to handle harsh Aussie pace bowlers here in Australia with some of those pull shots. It is great to see that these young players have put effort into their game. Hitting a century, hitting a 50, or even running up a double hundred in international cricket is not an easy task. And he called them “top quality players”.
