I must add that upon Rohit Sharma's retirement as the captain of Mumbai Indians in IPL2024, his successor was also Hardik Pandya who won the title thrice.
Rohit Sharma, who had also left the captaincy position in December 2023, then published a statement via a social media event. He showed a picture of him and Dhoni shaking hands during an IPL match and it is likely to be their match as both of them led their respective teams.
"MS Dhoni has handed over Chennai Super Kings' captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of TATA IPL 2024. Ruturaj has been a part of KCS since 2019 and he has played 52 games in IPL so far. We are waiting for the upcoming season," said CSK.
