Given his recent workload, India's top pacer and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the fourth Test match against England, which is scheduled to begin in Ranchi on Friday.

Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times
~BCCI said in a statement

Bumrah bowled 80.5 overs in the first three games over the previous four weeks and fetched 17 wickets in total at an average of 13.64. K L Rahul, meanwhile, was declared unfit to play in the game.

His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness.

Rahul was declared "90% match fit" by the BCCI and is making good progress under the guidance of the BCCI Medical Team, despite missing the third Test in Rajkot.

After being cut from the team for the third Test in Rajkot, Mukesh Kumar has returned to the team in Ranchi.

India won the third Test in Rajkot by 434 runs, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
