Chameera Replaces Atkinson in KKR for IPL 2024

Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera has been named as a replacement for Gus Atkinson by Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024.

Chameera will join KKR at a reserve price of INR 50 Lakh," said a statement from IPL. Chameera has previously been a part of Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and most recently for Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 in the IPL.

Atkinson, who has never played in the IPL, was selected by KKR in the December 2023 IPL Auction at his base price of INR 1 Crore. During the auction, Chameera, whose starting price was INR 50 Lakh, had no buyers.

Due to a shoulder injury that kept him out of the Sri Lankan team for a significant portion of last year, Chameera had been absent from the team. Chameera most recently played for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan and was a part of the ILT20 in the United Arab Emirates.
