The Ranji Trophy is the premier first-class cricket championship organized every year by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament features teams representing regional and state cricket associations. Mumbai became the The Ranji Trophy 2024 winners by beating Vidarbha 169 runs.
The Ranji Trophy was started in 1934; it is the most esteemed cricket domestic competition in India. Regarded as a feeder system for cricketers to be selected for India's national cricket squad. The trophy, which is named after Ranjitsinhji, the first Indian cricketer who played for England, is being contested over four years. The modification of the Ranji Trophy format has happened over the years, but currently, it is structured as an initial group stage preceding a knockout stage. There are six groups, the top teams from each group are through to the round of 16. The player with the maximum performance in the knockout stage is declared the champion of the Ranji Trophy.
The Ranji Trophy is a long tough tournament, where the matches can go on for up to five days. It is a measure of a cricketer's ability, strength, and steadfastness. Gaining the Ranji Trophy is a significant achievement for any cricketer, and it is regarded as pride for a state cricket association.
