WPL 2025- Charlie Dean Replaces Sophie Molineux At RCB

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have copped a huge blow as their leading spinner Sophie Molineux who spun a terrific web around the opposition batters alongside Asha Shobhana is now ruled out of the third season of the WPL. The Franchise announced Charlie Dean as her replacement on Thursday (16th January)

Molineux had a terrific WPL season with 12 wickets in 10 wickets at an economy of 7.31 her 3-wicket over in the final match against Meg Lanning-led- Delhi Capitals resulted in RCB's first title win in WPL, Molineux also finished as the third highest wicket-taker in WPL 2024. Recently, she also captained the Melbourne Renegades in the Women's Big Bash to the title with 16 wickets in seven games leading her side to the podium finish in the WBBL

Sophie Molineux Ruled Out

Meanwhile Charlie Dean, on the other hand, has featured in 36 T20Is for England so far and has picked up 46 wickets at an economy of 6.91. The off-spinner was also part of the winning London Spirit team in the Women's Hundred last year where she picked up seven wickets in the 10 games. She was recently named the Player of the Series in the ODI series against South Africa which concluded last month she picked 7 wickets across 3 games.

This will be the first time that Charlie Dean will be playing in the WPL. Apart from her bowling, she is a gun lower middle order batter who can smack crucial runs. Dean is currently participating in the Women's Ashes for England. She is expected to be available for the entire season.
