Abhay Sharma inherits the head position after the recalls of Mahatlane and remains as an assist to section a place to Jackson Ogwang ahead of Uganda's initial T20 World Cup look.

Even though he never represented his nation, Sharma had a strong record for Delhi and Railways and demonstrated his coaching abilities by serving as the India A and India's Under 19 team's fielding coach.

‘‘I here to do my part in helping the team achieve their goal beating the rest of the world’s greatest teams in the World Cup to come’’ the 54-year-old given Sharma added in the statement.

"Although Uganda Cricket has done well in the last 12 months, we have identified certain arenas where there is need for improvement, and we have mainly focused on the fielding area."

Uganda have been put into Group C at the T20 World Cup that also has other co-hosts like West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea. Abhay Sharma is confident the Ugandan team can shake up a few things and cause some upsets in the group stages.

Uganda's T20 World Cup opening match will be against Afghanistan in Guyana, on June 5.
