Gambhir is currently the front-runner to take up the coaching role of the senior men's team as Rahul Dravid's contract is set to end after the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. With Dravid not reapplying for the role Gambhir is the most likely candidate to succeed him.
A few Australian Cricketers were also approached for the role like Ricky Ponting, and Justin Langer however both denied it. Jay Shah soon clarified that no Australians or overseas players were approached for the job.
Gambhir was seen enjoying the win clicking photos and having a chat with the players, however in between all of this he had a lengthy chat with the BCCI Secretary sparking speculations about the coaching job.
Gambhir as of now looks like the front-runner to take up the role as he has a proven record of being a successful coach, Gambhir has played a huge role in India's Two prominent World Cup wins. Gambhir has a great Cricketing Brain, and with the knowledge he has about Indian players and conditions, he looks like the front-runner to don the coaching hat.
