Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian cricketer, has praised Babar Azam, a Pakistani batsman, saying that he has the potential to become the best batsman Pakistan has ever produced. Gambhir believes that Azam will now be seen in his true form and will make a strong comeback after a poor performance in the World Cup. While conversing with former Pakistani Captain - Wasim Akram on the Sportskeeda show, Gambhir said that after leaving captaincy, he can now focus purely on his batting.
He said "You will see the actual Babar Azam that no one has seen. From now until the day he retires, you will see his actual ability. Babar has so much quality that he can go out and become the best batter Pakistan has ever produced. He has got 10 years with no pressure of captaincy".
