The Mumbai Indians would profit from the change in captaincy, according to legendary Indian cricket player Sunil Gavaskar, who also mentioned that it will give Rohit Sharma more freedom to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Before the new season began, Hardik Pandya negotiated a stunning trade from the Gujarat Titans to MI, ending Rohit's ten-year reign as captain. There has been a lot of discussion around the choice, but Gavaskar stated that Rohit has had a hectic season with the World Cup campaign and that he would be able to focus on his own game because Hardik will be handling the captaincy.

To allow Rohit to play purely as a batter... it has been a busy season for him, first the World Cup, and now this series. This will give him the freedom to play without worrying about other players. My feeling is that it will work very well for Mumbai Indians. For Hardik to have someone like Rohit to turn to would be invaluable. Hardik will enjoy having Rohit as 'captain'.
~he said during a Star Sports event

Gavaskar went on to say that Hardik will gain from having an accomplished skipper like Rohit by his side during the season and that the Mumbai Indians may find it to be "invaluable."

Additionally, according to Gavaskar, Dhruv Jurel, a batsman with the Rajasthan Royals, could be this IPL's superstar. Jurel, who was playing in just his second Test match, was named Man of the Match after he brilliantly batted for 90 runs and 39 not out in India's five-wicket victory against England that ended the series.

He could be promoted up the order. Jurel could be the superstar after this performance in the Test matches. Even Akash Deep could get more exposure in RCB and play the role of the death-over specialist which they were missing last season.
