The Pakistan Cricket Board has taken a distinctive strategy to train the men's national team for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024. The Babar Azam-led team is now focused on fitness while training at the Army School of Physical Training in Kakul. The Pakistan cricket squad is undergoing a tough training session after the PCB received concerns about the team's physical levels during the ODI World Cup in 2023.

The Pakistani team is being tested through a range of standard exercises that the army conducts on a regular basis. The PCB has shared photos from the training camp on social media, showing the players participating in a variety of tasks ranging from stone lifting to rope climbing.

Fast bowler Hasan Ali of Pakistan is heard saying in the video that the camp is crucial for them as they strive to meet the necessary fitness requirements in time for the major ICC event that the Caribbean Islands and the United States of America will jointly host later in June.

The previous director of cricket for Pakistan made a joke at the national squad back in February 2024. Hafeez had stated on the Pakistani sports channel A Sports that the players in his country were not fit enough to play international cricket.

After Pakistan lost the T20I series against New Zealand 4-1, Hafeez was recently fired as director of cricket. Hafeez's four-year contract with the Pakistan team was abruptly terminated by the cricket board. An enraged Hafeez expressed his displeasure on Twitter and promised to uncover the reasons for Pakistan's dismal international cricket performance.

Naqvi ordered for the Probe

To increase their level of fitness, Pakistani cricket players will exercise with the army in March and April, according to PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi's instructions. On Tuesday, March 5, the head coach gave a speech to a small group of players at a hotel in Islamabad. He discussed the 10-day training camp that would take place during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2024.

Naqvi expressed his disappointment with Pakistan's batsmen's six-hitting prowess and discussed the importance of putting strength and fitness first.

We have New Zealand coming up, then Ireland, England, and the T20 World Cup. I wondered, 'When will we train?' but there was no time. However, we've found a window where we've organized a camp in Kakul (military academy) from March 25 to April 8. The Pakistan Army will be involved in your training, and hopefully, they'll help you out.
