ICC bans Rizwan Javed: UK Club Cricketer is Banned for 17 Years for Attempted Match-Fixing

Rizwan Javed sent to exile -

Rizwan Javed, a club cricket player in the UK, has been barred from playing cricket for 17 and a half years by the International Cricket Council (ICC). This is the second-longest sentence that the highest cricket board has issued thus far.
On behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), the ICC filed charges against eight players and officials in September 2023. The decision was taken by the ICC as the ECB's designated anti-corruption official under the code.

Due to his lack of response to the charges, Rizwan has lost his right to a hearing and has been found guilty. Rizwan's ban began on September 19, 2023, the day he was barred from participating in any kind of cricket.

Found bribing T10 players -

In the Cheshire Cricket League, Rizwan played his final club cricket match for Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club. He was found guilty of bribing T10 League players, particularly those of the Pune Devils team.
In the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021, eight players were accused of corruption in total. The eight players and officials on the list include Nasir Hossain of Bangladesh, who is presently serving a two-year ban.

Here’s the full list of charges against Rizwan:

Article 2.1.1 – Being party to an attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly matches or aspects of matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 2021 (on three separate occasions).
Article 2.1.3 – Offering a Reward to another Participant in exchange for that player engaging in Corrupt Conduct.
Article 2.1.4 – Directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach Code Article 2.1 (on three separate occasions).
Article 2.4.4 - Failing to disclose to the DACO full details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in Corrupt Conduct under the Code.
Article 2.4.6 – Failing or refusing, without compelling justification, to cooperate with any investigation carried out by the DA to possible Corrupt Conduct under the Code.

Several attempts to corrupt young cricketers -

According to Alex Marshall, General Manager of Integrity at the ICC, the club cricket player from the UK received a lengthy ban for his continuous attempts to influence young players.

Rizwan Javed has received a lengthy ban from cricket for his repeated and serious attempts to corrupt professional cricketers

The sanction imposed should send a strong message to other corrupters trying to target cricket at any level and demonstrate that any attempt to corrupt cricket will be strongly dealt with
