India 'A' and Australia 'A' will battle it out in a couple of four-day games scheduled to take place just before the all-important Border Gavaskar Trophy. Cricket Australia has made another confirmation that this series will be granted a First-Class status.
This series will be beneficial for the sides, more so for the hosts Australia who have had some tough moments when it comes to the BGT series. The Australians have lost 2 series on the bounce against the touring Indians, with the last one being a historic series for the visitors.
Some of the Australian regulars are expected to take part in these games by skipping the one-day series against Pakistan which is all set to clash with the 'A' games. Some of the senior Indian Team members might also take part in this series.
The CA head of Cricket Operations, Peter Roach said that holding these games in MCG and Mackay will give these games a good status plus some new faces can their hats in for selection.
The 'A' Tour is slated to begin from October 31 till November 3 at the Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay. The Teams will then head to Melbourne at the iconic MCG ground to play the last four-day game. The very same ground is scheduled to host the 4th test of the Border Gavaskar series between India and Australia.
India will be arriving after playing a couple of home test series against New Zealand and Bangladesh. The Indian team will be playing an intra-squad game against the same Indian 'A' side at the WACA ground in Perth from November 15-17th.
