In a historic victory for the Indian women's cricket team, Deepti Sharma played a significant role by grabbing nine wickets in the match and helping India beat England with a remarkable margin of 347 runs, the highest ever in the history of women's Tests. This was also the first Test victory for India over England at home.
England struggled to make an impact in the game and were bowled out for a mere 131 runs in just 27.3 overs in their second innings. India claimed all 10 wickets of England in the first session of the day. The England team lasted just 63 overs in the entire match, being bowled out for 136 in the first innings. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur declared overnight with a score of 186/6, setting England a tough target of 479 to chase.
Although England had a decent start in the second innings, it didn't last long, as they lost wickets in quick succession to Pooja Vastrakar and Renuka Singh. Deepti Sharma was unstoppable in both innings, finishing with figures of 5/7 in the first innings, and 4/32 in the second innings, almost inching towards becoming the second Indian female cricketer to claim a 10-wicket match haul after Jhulan Goswami.
Indian team has remained undefeated for 17 years, playing a total of 7 series in which India won 4 series and 3 series registered in a tie. We wish team India to continue their unparalleled victories like this and make India proud over and over again.
