Star pacer Mohammed Shami of the Indian cricket team gave a significant update on Monday, revealing that he has undergone surgery on his Achilles tendon. The right-arm pacer informed his followers of the news on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Just had a successful heel operation on my Achilles tendon! Recovery is going to take some time, but looking forward to getting back on my feet. #AchillesRecovery #HeelSurgery #RoadToRecovery," Shami posted on X. Shami missed the home T20I series against Australia following the ICC event, and was ruled out of the entire South Africa tour. He also missed the Afghanistan series and is not participating in the ongoing Test series against England.
The 33-year-old last played for India in the ODI World Cup final against Australia in November. He is not participating in the upcoming five-match Test series against England. With just 7 matches played, the senior pacer emerged as the tournament's highest wicket-taker, having struck out 24 batters.

Despite playing in pain from landing problems, Shamiβwho took 24 wickets in India's thrilling World Cup campaignβdid not let it stop him from doing well. According to the most recent information, he will not be participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. Since Shami oversaw the Gujarat Titans' speed attack, this is a major setback for the team.
Shami was a major part of GT's success in both seasons. The 33-year-old bowler had 20 wickets in 2022 and then an even better showing in the 2023 Indian Premier League, claiming 28 wickets at an average of 18.64. With the new ball, Shami was quite lethal because of his swings and bouncers.
