For the current Indian Premier League IPL season, the Kolkata Knight Riders have selected 16-year-old spinner Allah Ghazanfar instead of his injured colleague Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the team announced on Thursday.
Ghazanfar has shown his promise in the 2024 U-19 Cricket World Cup, which was held in South Africa earlier this year. He joined KKR for a fee of INR 20 lakh. Afghanistan lost all three of their group stage matches, but because to a team-high three wickets from Ghazanfar, they were able to overcome the USA in the play-off for 16th place. In two One-Day Internationals, the Afghani right-arm off-break spinner has played. In addition, the youthful player has also appeared in six List A games and three T20s.
"KKR CEO called him yesterday (Wednesday). It was a moment to cherish for all of us," Atta Mohammad Ghazanfar, Allah's elder brother, informed The Indian Express from Kabul.
