IPL 2024: Bumrah Blazes to Five-Wicket Haul, Takes Top Spot Against RCB

It was the day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when talented Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah shined as he took a five-wicket for RCB at Wankhede on tomorrow match. Resultant economy rate: 5.20 Pakistan's Rizwan had an influential role to play in this chase as he struck the most crucial wickets of the elegant opening batsmen Virat Kohli, Du Plessis; and later got rid of Mahipal Lomror, Saurav Chauhan, and Vijaykumar Vyshak. It is the first step by Kuldeep Yadav to have five wickets in the Indian Premier League against RCB since its inception. Bumrah had his name written down on the wicket doing 5/21 in 4 overs. 

RCB's batting order has always been its weak link. Now, Bumrah has surpassed R Jadeja and S Sharma(26 scalps each) by becoming the bowler with the most wickets against RCB. Now, he has 29 wickets in total against the RCB.

Bumrah now holds the distinction of being the sixth-highest wicket-taker in the league's history, erasing Harbhajan Singh's previous top-10 record. In his 125 matches, he has 155 wickets at a mean of 22.56, with a career strike rate of 18.46. He owns best bowling figures of 5/10. Harbhajan is the other way with 150 wickets in 163 matches also.

So far, in the ongoing season of IPL 2024, Bumrah turned out to be the Purple Cap winner and captured 10 wickets in five matches at an average of 11.90 with the best figures of 5/21.
