Archer as a substitute for Karnataka -

Archer, who plays county cricket for Sussex, became a substitute for the Karnataka team, which included U-19, U-23, and senior players.

For those unfamiliar, Sussex are in Bengaluru, India, for a 10-day pre-season camp. They are scheduled to play a few practice games in Bengaluru before returning to the South Coast.

Archer did not bowl on the first day of the match because Sussex preferred to bowl in practice. However, he played as a substitute for Karnataka and took two wickets.

Archer, who hasn't played competitive cricket in nearly a year, seemed in fine form as he dismissed two of his Sussex teammates, one of whom was an absolute hitter.

Archer last played competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. After missing the 2022 season, he played only five games last season, taking two wickets.

He was released by the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians before the auction. Fans expected Archer to be at his peak in the IPL 2023, leading MI to their sixth title, but a persistent elbow injury cut short his season and harmed his performance.
