IPL 2025: Players Likely To Be Released

The IPL fever is once again picking up its pace, with the retention rules could being announced anytime soon, it has ensured that the franchises have begun their preparations for the Mega auction that is slated to be held in November in an undisclosed location as of now.

With this being a mega auction we can see many big players that could be released & going under the hammer in November. Who can be the probable players that might get released ahead of the mega auctions this year? Let's have a look.

Players Likely To Be Released Ahead of IPL 2025

1. KL Rahul-

KL Rahul comes first in the list of players likely to be released ahead of IPL 2025, Rahul had a below-par IPL where he was criticized for his slow starts and Strike Rate. Rahul though scored 520 runs but those runs came at a low pace.

The Cricketing world also saw a shocking moment at Hyderabad where Rahul was slammed brutally by Sanjeev Goenka who's the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after they lost that game by 10 wickets and 10 overs to spare. If the speculations are to be believed then Rahul could be in line to wear a new jersey in IPL 2025.

2. Rohit Sharma-

Another big name that makes this list is the 'Hitman' Rohit Sharma. Rohit had an average IPL in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Mumbai Indians. Rohit was removed from the captaincy of the franchise ahead of this season's IPL, which ensured that the situation took an ugly turn, what followed was a barrage of public outrage and booing on the ground. It looks highly unlikely that Rohit will be wearing the blue and gold of MI again.

3. Faf Du Plessis

Du Plessis could be the next in line of players that could be released ahead of IPL 2025, by the time IPL comes next year he'll be 40, and with form not on his side, it's highly unlikely that Faf will be retained at the auction.

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

India's premier fast bowler at one point in time is now uncertain to be retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for whom he's played for 10 years. Kumar had an average season this year, with age catching up and pace coming a little down Bhuvi is likely to be released by the Sunrisers group.

5. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is another name that is likely to be released ahead of IPL 2025. Kishan had an underwhelming IPL this year where he struggled at the opening slot. With retention rules set to be limited and Kishan's IPL fee being high Kishan could likely go under the hammer in the mega auction.
