IPL 2025 is all set to begin from Saturday, May 17th, with a clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru & the Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru. The same two teams played the curtain raiser of this year's IPL. The board made the announcement late on Monday (May 12th). The board has also stated that they'll reveal the venues for the playoffs later.

The board, in a statement, has confirmed that they've decided to carry on with the IPL program after extensive consultations with the Government, security agencies & key stakeholders

The revised schedule has just 2 double headers, both on Sundays. The 1st qualifier is set to be played on 29th May, while the Eliminator will be played on the following day (May 30). The second qualifier will be played on June 1, while the final is set to be played on June 3. This will be the first time in the history of the IPL that an IPL final will not be played on Sunday.

While there were rumors of the remainder of the IPL getting shifted to the Southern part of India- Chennai, Hyderabad & Bengaluru. But the BCCI has decided against it & has finalized Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad, with Bengaluru being the only venue from the Southern Part. The Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad & Punjab Kings do not get to play at their respective home venues. Delhi will be hosting CSK's final home against RR on May 20th & also the SRH-KKR clash on May 25th. Both CSK & SRH are out of the race for a playoff spot.

The game between Punjab Kings & Delhi Capitals will be replayed at Jaipur. The Punjab Kings play their remaining two games at Jaipur only. 5-time champions Mumbai Indians, who are in contention to qualify for the playoffs, get to play their last home game at Mumbai against DC on May 21st.

Once the game in Dharamsala between PBKS & DC got called off due to the border tensions between India and Pakistan, the board opted to suspend the tournament for a week. Several overseas players have already left the country, and it remains to be seen how many of them return for the tournament, especially with international duties set to begin right after the end of the IPL.
