In a historic turn of events the Irish Women team is all set to tour India later this year for 3 ODI's and as many T2oIs, the Irish Men's team was there in India back in 2011 but to play the World Cup and not for a bilateral series.
The tour is set to kick off in January next year, however, the Laura Delany-led Irish side will be entering India 2 weeks before the series to get acclimatized to the conditions.
According to information obtained from Cricket Ireland officials present at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Long Island, New York, where the Ireland men were involved in a Twenty20 World Cup game against Canada, the Irish women will be arriving in India on December 30 and will be there for two weeks. All six games will be played in January, the venues for which have not yet been finalized.
this series is a part of the of ODI World Championship as it will determine the qualifications for the ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in India next Year.
"Yeah, Hopefully, we will get to visit India in 2025" said an Irish Cricket official.
As per the latest ICC rankings, India is No. 5 in ODIs and Ireland is No. 11. In the T20I rankings, the Indian women are No. 3 and the Irish women are ranked at No. 10.
The Indian men's side often visits Ireland for short tours they might tour again, But the Irish presence in India has been less, Only Josh Little has features in the IPL for Gujarat Titans being the only Irish Cricketer in recent times to visit India.
No Irish Woman was Picked in the WPL auctions this year, however, Amy Hunter who is the youngest woman to score an International century may find a buyer next season, Jay Selat the only Irish was associated with the RCB setup in the WPL setup
there are hopes in the Irish setup that this upcoming tour of India will help the Irish cricketers to get featured in the WPL which is played in February.
The last 6 white series that these two sides have played have all been outside India With India winning all of them the last series win against Ireland was in the year 2012.
