MS-Dhoni Steps Down as a Captain of CSK, Ruturaj Gaikwad Steps In

In a stunning development, MS Dhoni, the legendary captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has stepped down as a captain before the IPL 2024. According to the IPL website, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was expected to take over as captain, will lead the Yellow Army instead.

Dhoni, who has been captaining CSK since the tournament's start, opted to step down immediately before the IPL 2022. Ravindra Jadeja took up leadership in his absence. However, it did not last long following CSK's poor results under Jadeja's captaincy, prompting CSK management to ask Dhoni to reconsider his choice.

His finest IPL season was in 2021 when he scored 635 runs in 16 games at an impressive average of 45.35.
