MS Dhoni has officially retired from international cricket, but if you're watching IPL 2024 and seeing how the great man teases his fans with short cameos, you want to see MSD wear the Indian colors for one more time.
And, with the 2024 T20 World Cup coming up (in June) in the United States and the West Indies, might the unbelievable happen? Indian captain Rohit Sharma wants to attempt to convince Dhoni to attend the World Cup, but he probably knows the answer.
During an appearance on the Club Prairie Fire podcast with Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan, Rohit Sharma discussed the T20 World Cup and team selection, saying it would be difficult to persuade Dhoni to attend the T20 World Cup 2024 in the U.S.A & West Indies.
Rohit Sharma (on Club Prairie Fire):

"It'll be hard to convince MS Dhoni for the World Cup, DK will be easier to convince". 😂👌 pic.twitter.com/O5ozBqayYN
It’ll be hard to convince MSD for sure to come to the West Indies, I guess. Uh, he’s sick and tired. He’s coming to the US, though, to do something else. He’s into golf now, so he’s coming to play golf, I guess.
~said Sharma when Gilchrist floated the idea of looking at a couple of veterans in MSD and Dinesh Karthik for the T20 World Cup
Sharma praised Dhoni's 20-run performance in 4 balls against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, claiming it was the game-winning effort. MI lost that game to CSK by a score of 20 runs.
He [Dhoni] came to play four balls, made a huge impact, got those 20-22 runs and that was eventually the difference in the end.
~said Sharma
Rohit Sharma made a speculating remark about Dinesh Karthik's chances of making the team. Sharma was only caught kidding Karthik about the T20 World Cup spot during Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru last week. A few days later, Sharma speculated that it could be simpler to persuade the wicketkeeper-batter to play in the T20 World Cup than Dhoni, following DK's spectacular effort against SRH, in which he smashed 85 off just 35 deliveries.
Quite impressed, you know, especially with Dinesh, the way he batted a couple of nights back," said Sharma before adding, “Yeah, DK will be easy to convince, I guess".
