Bangladeshi skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto feels that the experience of veterans Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmuddulah will help him and the team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to start in USA and West Indies from June 1.
Najmul was appointed as the regular captain of the team in February this year, even though Shanto has led Bangladesh previously against India and Sri Lanka in India at the ODI World Cup due to the absence of Shakib al Hasan.
This time though, the eyes will be completely on Shanto as this will be the first time he will be leading Bangladesh in a multi-nation event as a full-time skipper against Sri Lanka in Dallas on June 7.
Having Shakib and Mahmudullah by his side will help the team prepare for the World Cup especially those guys who are playing their first World Cup.
There are many things to learn from them, they have led the team in the past in many World Events, and they will help me in difficult times as they have always done he said.
A Cricketer always dreams of playing for their country, and leading the team into the World Cup is a proud feeling for any player. I just want to enjoy this feeling and my time in the World Cup. I want to enjoy the leadership responsibility and not think about the captaincy as increased my workload, Shanto said
Shanto has urged his team members to follow the basics right, the batters need to sort their techniques, the batters need to fix their top order vows, and the death bowling needs to be on point. Bangladesh started their USA tour with a shocking series loss against the home side conceding the series 2-1. Bangladesh managed to win the last T20I by 10 wickets as a consolation win.
whenever you go to a big tournament like this focus on achieving the dream as a unit, we don't like to focus on outcomes much, if our processes and basics are correct and we execute our plans well good things will happen automatically. Najmul said.
We want to win as a team if we concentrate on the basics and make our plans and execute them we will be good, we want to achieve something that we haven't done in recent years, thinking about the expectations will just increase our pressure. Shanto Said, also added that he is expecting great support for Bangladesh in the USA.
Our supporters are our backbone the way they support us even during the tough times keeps us going, We are expecting good support from them once again, Shanto Added
