The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced that Najmul Hossain Shanto has called it quits as the T20I captain of the Bangladesh Cricket team effective immediately.
It was earlier reported that Shanto isn't interested in leading Bangladesh in the T20I format after the culmination of the South African series. The thoughts began to shape up after the culmination of the Men's T20 World in June last year.
Shanto had decided to relinquish captaincy in all three formats until BCB president Faruque Ahmed got involved in the matters and persuaded Shanto to lead in ODI's & Tests. Shanto was retained as the skipper for the Afghanistan series where he picked up an injury & was eventually ruled out of the series.
"Shanto has finally conveyed to us that he doesn't want to lead the team in T20I format, he said, since we've no T20I fixtures at the moment we have decided not to name a captain for the format, Shanto will be leading the side in ODI & Test Format if he regains full fitness, we've already conveyed this to him"

It is now being considered that Litton Kumer Das who looked keen to lead the T20I side in the West Indies & ended up winning the series 3-0 is expected to be appointed as the permanent captain in the T20I format.
Najmul, however, is going to lead the Asian side in the upcoming Champions Trophy. It looked like Mehidy Hasan Miraz would be leading the side in the showpiece event as he was named as the stand-in skipper for ODI's & Tests after Najmul Hossain Shanto got injured.
Shanto led Bangladesh in 27 T20Is winning 10 matches & losing 17 matches. Shanto's win percentage as a T20I captain is 41% while his loss percentage stands at 59%
