"Nakhre Nahi Chalenge": Jay Shah Issues A Warning To Indian Players Amid Ishan Kishan Row

Not a good time for Ishan -

Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, stated on Wednesday that playing red-ball cricket in the domestic circuit will be mandatory for all cricketers under central contract, and the management will not accept any form of justification. Shah observed that all players must represent their state teams if called upon by the coach or captain while speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium renaming ceremony. The announcement was made during the Ishan Kishan controversy and rumors that the BCCI had invited him to represent Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy.

During the conversation, Shah specified Kishan but he swiftly clarified that his words did not refer to him specifically and that all cricket players who do not play for their country will be subject to this restriction.

All contracted players have been told on the phone and I'll be writing to them too. If the chairman of selectors, coach & captain wants you to play red-ball cricket then you gotta play. ‘Nakhre Nahi Chalenge' (no tantrums). And as far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, he is young, I am not saying this specifically about him as it will apply to all the players uniformly

Shah also made it clear that all decisions will be taken after consulting the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Whatever advice we get from the NCA — say suppose somebody's body is not able to handle both white-ball and red-ball cricket — so we do not want to impose anything in that regard

(It applies to) whoever is fit and young — we are not going to tolerate any other tantrums. This message is for all centrally contracted players
~said Shah providing further clarity.
