The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will play host to five games for the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 and has replaced the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as a venue for the mega tournament, the ICC announced on Friday (August 22).
The uncertainty around Bengaluru hosting the games for the Women's World Cup loomed large in the aftermath of the tragic stampede that occurred after RCB's maiden IPL title win on June 3rd.
The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host five matches in the World Cup, including the semi-final 1 & potentially the finals. Colombo is the other venue that can host the finals if Pakistan qualifies for the summit clash.
Navi Mumbai is one of the venues that will now host the World Cup matches with other being the ADCA-VCA Stadium in Vishakhapatnam, the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore & the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
With changes in the schedule, Team India's matches against New Zealand & Bangladesh, which were supposed to be played at Bengaluru, will now be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 23rd October & 26th October respectively. The other game that will be played at this venue will be the clash between Sri Lanka & Bangladesh on October 20th.
