India now leads England by 3-1 in a 5-match Test series. England won the toss and made 353 runs in the first inning, thanks to the veteran and all-rounder Joe Root's knock of 122 runs in 274 balls. He was out of form from the last three test matches but this time he regained his form and smashed a beautiful ton. While chasing the team India was able to chase 307 runs and got a trail of 46 runs.
After such a wonderful start by England, they couldn't continue their successful streak of runs and collapsed on only 145 runs in the 2nd innings. Zak Crawley and Bairstow provided some support to England by smashing 60 runs and 30 runs. But India's dangerous bowling lineup stormed team England. Legendary Test bowlers R. Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav took a fifer and 4-fer making England bleed through thousand cuts.
In the 2nd innings, the captain Rohit Sharma gave a good start of 55 runs and Jaiswal also followed his captain's path and made 37 runs, but he couldn't hold for long and fell in the trap of Joe Root. Shubhman Gill stabled the condition but Rohit gave his wicket to Tom Hartley. Rajat Patidar again disappointed the board and got out on a duck.
Ravindra Jadeja also couldn't hold for long and gave his wicket while Sarfaraz Khan who was in good form fell into the trap of bazzball and got dismissed by lbw. Overall, within a span of only 36 runs, 5 players have gone to the pavilion.
Nevertheless, a beautiful partnership from Gill and Jurel saved India from this alarming situation and landed team India into the victory lane with a half-century by Shubhman Gill.
In conclusion, every debutant young player except Rajat Patidar has proved their worth and is surely making team India proud. This performance of them will have a long-lasting memory in the minds of the selectors which will surely benefit them in the future.
