New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) have signed a seven-year agreement for the broadcast of all international matches in the nation for the Indian audience. Currently, Amazon Prime, whose contract expires this summer, broadcasts New Zealand international cricket to India. The Indian men's team is scheduled to travel New Zealand in 2026-2027 and 2030-2031, hence, Sony Pictures is getting a good deal on this acquisition.
The agreement is valid from May 1, 2024, until April 30, 2031, and it will also be available on Sony LIV, SPNI's streaming platform. NZC Chief Executive Scott Weenink commented on the news, expressing his satisfaction in collaborating with SPNI.
"Sony Pictures Networks India is an aspirational, innovative and forward-focussed business that prides itself on being efficient and sustainable in a rapidly changing world. It puts its consumers first and seeks to be the very best it can be - values NZC relates to very strongly."

Over the years, New Zealand cricket teams and the nation have garnered a respectable fan base in India. Even though Amazon is now in charge of the streaming rights, Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer-Distribution and International Business and Head of Sports Business at SPNI seemed happy about the seven-year agreement that NZC has signed.
"Our constant endeavour has been to add marquee properties to our sports portfolio, making us a global multi-sporting arena for audiences in India. We're looking forward to showcasing some terrific cricket through our seven-year partnership, including three crucial bilateral series against England, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, in 2024-25, as well two bilateral series featuring the Indian men's team in 2026-27 and 2030-31, respectively."
