DC captain Rishabh Pant slams his team after a crushing defeat to KKR

Neha . April 4, 2024

It wasn’t as if we were half-present at the ground, said the skipper Rishabh Pant and he would like his teammates to reflect upon this issue after the team’s catastrophic 106-run loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL earlier today. Delhi Capitals bowlers had a forgettable match as the KKR hitters threw them to and, scoring 272/7 runs.

"Our bowlers everywhere, you know just didn't pitch up on the day. Today was one of those days, " Pant said at the post-match interview ceremony.

As far as batting was concerned, we only needed each other as a unit. "I would rather play for a team completely and even fail than not give my best and not go for the target," he explained.

Sunil Narine, who threw his wickets away to 85 runs off 39 balls, benefitted from a 'no-ball call' imposed on Pant for the right decision at the early stage of the game.

"I think it was too noisy here," Throughout this process, however, there was a timer I could not see on the screen. The screen flickered sometimes. "There are a few things you can't control. There are a few things you can't," replied Pant.

"The point was that we didn't want to polish our bowlers but our fast bowlers were not coming through the motions. I think it is a topic for self-analysis as an individual. We can gain from these mistakes and next time come out positive in the next match."
  • Coming off a lengthy absence, Pant himself was in excellent form as he scored his second fifty in a row.
  • Player of the Match Sunil Narine, who achieved his best T20 score, expressed his desire to be a useful batsman.
  • "I'm doing good. Venturing outside. Enjoying every day, however, there are ups and downs with cricket.
  • "Being a batter is the main responsibility in cricket, therefore try to contribute more. Nevertheless, I still have fun bowling.
  • He responded to the team joke that he skips batting practices by saying, "I have one function, and the less I know, the better.
